MALS 4755 - World Literature
In this course, you’ll take a literary tour of the world in 70 days. Stops along the way include classic works of the 20th century from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America—fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. As with any whirlwind tour, students will learn a little about “the other” and a lot more about themselves. An emphasis in discussions and writing assignments will be on how exposure to the literature of different countries can help us see our own literary and cultural assumptions with new eyes. Students will also be asked to reflect on thematic relationships and differences among texts from different times and places.
