Innovation and Technology in Global Transportation and Supply Chain

Innovation and change are prevalent in the global supply chain and transportation industrial structure. This course exposes students to an array of technology trends and innovative ideas for boosting competitive advantage, predicting disruptions, and preparing for new forces emerging from GIS, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cloud-based products. The advantages and security issues related to big data and analytics are investigated as they relate to compliance and decision-making for managers and leaders. Understanding analytics helps managers and leaders identify and implement new technology in real-world applications. Students will explore what it means to have an innovation mindset and how it is applied while making decisions that maximize asset utilization and control wastage and/or redundancy and how to successfully apply emerging technologies to their careers and organizations.
