ICT 4020 (4 credits)

Business Forecasting and Planning

Business forecasting and planning brings together a wide diversity of skills: economic, financial, marketing, and technical analysis. This course brings together these concepts and extends prior coursework with coverage of budgeting, finance, costing, business planning, revenue forecasting, P&L statements, and balance sheet analysis as applied to information systems and services. Topics include the economics of software and other intellectual property, network effects, usage and sharing effects, sunk costs and monopoly effects, capacity and resource planning issues, and an introduction to the related regulatory issues. Students will develop budgets or business plans for several increasingly difficult scenarios addressing a range of technology applications and services.
