Ruby is a dynamic, general-purpose, object-oriented programming language that has an associated web application framework, Rails. The Ruby on Rails (RoR) web application paradigm is powerful and flexible, and has been widely adopted by other frameworks. It allows for the rapid and agile creation of dynamic web applications with little of the overhead associated with other approaches. The student will learn how to quickly develop, test, and deploy dynamic web applications using RoR. The student will also learn how manage both the user experience and a backend database from within the RoR framework. Prerequisites: ICT 4510, or previous programming experience.
