Cultural Participation and Program Planning

In this course, students explore changing attitudes toward arts participation, the need for new approaches to engage audiences and the possibility of radically changing the role art and artists play in our daily lives. Audience development and involvement is explored, especially in terms of arts education. The connection between cultural participation and program planning is closely examined. Various models are discussed on a theoretical level, and diverse arts organizations serve as case studies for practical applications.
