Our community has watched in horror and heartbreak as Russia invaded Ukraine last month, violating international law and the human rights of the Ukrainian people. As we grapple with this humanitarian crisis, we also consider the significant implications this war has on the global economy, trade, media, and foreign relations.

Join thought leaders and faculty from University of Denver’s University College as they explore the short-term and long-term consequences for security, supply chain, and globalization. With the global economic order expected to shift dramatically due to this war, panelists will discuss how our world may be reshaped and changed forever.

Moderated by Dr. Arianna Nowakowski, academic director and teaching assistant professor for the Global Community Engagement program at DU’s University College, the panel will discuss implications for businesses both locally and globally. Panelists include:

  • Dr. Eric Fattor, a scholar of international security, political theory and the politics of global media, as well as instructor in the Global Community Engagement program.
  • Dr. Jack Buffington, professor of the practice and academic director of the Supply Chain Management program at DU.
  • Karen Gerwitz, President and CEO of World Trade Center Denver, which helps companies in the Rocky Mountain region engage in trade through exports, imports, investment and managing global operations.
  • Richard Staynings, a globally renowned thought leader, author, public speaker, expert witness, and advocate for improved cybersecurity.

The panel will discuss how organizations are preparing for cyber-attacks, the pressurized supply chain, the impact on trading relations with Russia, and restricted press and social media in addition to the variance in coverage of the war.

The webinar, hosted by DU’s college of continuing and professional studies, University College, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Register for free online
