Master’s students typically start at University College, where you earn a graduate certificate before seeking admission to the Department of Geography and the Environment where you will finish your master’s degree. You will receive applied instruction from professional practitioners as you learn to plan, implement, and execute a Geographic Information Systems project through remote sensing, internet mapping, or digital image processing. Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Geographic Information System (GIS) program at the University of Denver. GIS is a rapidly expanding field and has been identified by the US Department of Labor as one of the three fastest growing career opportunities in this country. For over twenty years we've offered a Certificate of Advanced Study in GIS in University College and a Master's in Geographic Information Science in the Department of Geography and the Environment. We take pride in our academic legacy, our GIS lab facilities available to on campus and online students, and our resources featuring market-leading software products, including an ESRI site license and an Education Edition of ArcGIS for every enrolled student.
