James Eklund

Bio

James Eklund (JD, University of Denver) has practiced and advised on water law for 15 years in both the public and private sectors. He was the architect of Colorado’s first strategic water plan and represented Colorado on the Colorado River. While there, he negotiated and signed a contingency plan that helps manage water for 40 million people who rely on the Colorado River in the grip of 20-year aridification due to climate change. A fifth generation Coloradan, James grew up on Colorado agriculture and water. He has worked on water internationally and recently created his own firm, Eklund Hanlon LLC. James is a graduate of Stanford University and the DU College of Law.
