Joey has more than 24 years of IT/cybersecurity experience, including his current position as Enterprise Assessment Service Lead at NASA.

He started in the U.S. Navy, where he served for nearly ten years. Following his service, he spent eight years as a defense contractor with the NSA, Department of Defense, and Department of Homeland Security. He conducted security control assessments, risk reviews, and authorization to operate recommendations. He transitioned to federal service in 2018, supporting the U.S. Marine Corps. After two years with the Marines, Joey accepted a position in 2020 supporting NASA, where he has led the agency’s transition to an enterprise solution for performing Risk Management Framework assessments. He oversees the work of other civil servants and contractors supporting the assessment work at NASA.

In addition to his Ph.D. in Cybersecurity Leadership from Capitol Technical University, he also possesses the ISC2 CISSP and CGRC, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and ITIL v4 foundations certifications.
