Do online classes meet at specific times

No, online classes are asynchronous which means there is no designated time to log in.

What is a HyFlex course?

A HyFlex course meets online and on campus at the same time, giving students the option of attending class face-to-face on campus or online (or a combination of both).

Is every program offered online?

Yes, every master’s degree program and the bachelor’s completion program can be completed entirely online without ever coming to the University of Denver campus (though we hope to see you at graduation!).

Are there additional fees to take online classes?

No, all classes have a $4 per credit technology fee whether the class is offered online or on campus.

What learning management system does University College use?

University College uses the Canvas learning management system. Canvas is a cloud-based learning management system that allows faculty to deliver courses in dynamic ways. Students can access Canvas through web browsers, mobile devices, and tablets. The learning management system has a vast repository of online guides to help ensure that you can focus on learning the content and not the technical basics.

How long do online classes last?

Each term is 10 weeks in duration.

How do I interact with my peers in online classes?

You can connect with your peers through interactive discussion boards that integrate text, video, and audio tools. Students also have the opportunity to connect with peers in Canvas online group spaces, through instant chat, email, and virtual meeting spaces, such as Zoom. Some faculty embed educational technology tools into Canvas so that you can connect with other students, while mastering new collaboration tools.

How will I meet with my instructor?

You can meet and communicate with your instructor via phone, Zoom, Teams, and/or email.

What technology requirements do I need?

Regular consistent access to a computer and internet with the following specifications is required: at minimum, students should have Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 Home or Pro (recommended) and Apple users should have a Mac OS 10.10.5 or above. While Canvas has been carefully crafted to accommodate low bandwidth environments, the minimum of 512kbps is required. Audio and video computer capabilities are needed for most classes.
