Security professionals are in high demand and the Security Management program prepares you to meet this need. You will gain the skills needed to protect organizations, employees, customers, physical assets, and intellectual property—all while maintaining the continuity of operations.
The program curriculum is based on recommendations from ASIS International, allowing for the most up-to-date and relevant course content led by industry professionals working in the field. Learn to examine security threats, assess risk, and provide security solutions through case studies, research, and dynamic discussions among peers and instructors. You will gain insight to managing security, emergencies, and risk to be better prepared to take on complex security challenges.
This program prepares students to:
- Lead the strategic, planning, and management efforts of private and public sector organizations
- Evaluate and analyze emerging security issues, regulations, and threats
- Analyze financial implications of security programs and options
- Protect vital assets such as people, physical structures and equipment, intellectual property, information and maintain post-incident continuity of operations
Welcome to the Security Management program at the University of Denver. Our curriculum includes a rich selection of options across the security spectrum, and helps you develop essential skills for the 21st century workplace such as problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking. Our curriculum is practical and applied. You will often be able to immediately apply what you have learned in class. Our classes are small−less than 20 students−so you will have ample opportunities to interact with, and get to know, your fellow students and instructors. As you pursue your degree we will provide you with strong teaching, academic advising, career services, timely and relevant content, and many opportunities to enhance your opportunities in, and knowledge of, the security profession.
