Dana Laursen
Bio
Dana Laursen is a longtime communication management professional with extensive experience in the education technology industry. Dana has also worked with nonprofits, startups, political and issues campaigns, and governmental organizations, including experience as an educator and school district administrator. She is a passionate communicator with experience in almost every field of communication management.
Education
Dana earned her B.A. in Spanish from Central College and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Iowa, followed by an M.A. in Organizational Development and a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems from the Fielding Graduate University.
Professional Experience
Dana works as a consultant/researcher with her firm, Peak14K Consulting. She typically focuses her consulting and research work with education entities, advising clients on market and brand definition, funding, go-to-market, internal communications, professional development, and more.
Teaching Philosophy
Dana is a lifelong educator, with a passion for facilitating student exploration of their strengths and voice. She is committed to ensuring equity, diversity, and inclusion for students, and she works to create a course experience that champions “aha” moments and new ideas as students create connections among their academic, life, and professional experiences. She regularly explores applications of new technologies in the learning and communication management industries, and encourages students to think “outside the box” in defining solutions for today’s industry challenges. She regularly engages with students through live Zoom sessions and office hours, encouraging feedback to prompt deeper exploration and application of ideas.
