Thomas Koch
Bio
Thomas Koch has a dynamic background in the fields of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health & Safety, having been employed for over 35 years in industry and private practice. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and is VERTEX’s Vice President for Industrial Hygiene and ESH Services and its National Technical Lead (NTL) for Industrial Hygiene.
Professional Background
Prior to joining VERTEX, Thomas was President of Koch Environmental Health, Inc., specializing in the comprehensive fields of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Safety and Health. He has provided industrial hygiene/EHS consulting services to business, government, and private industry for over 35 years.
Thomas has also taught for 9 years in DU’s Environmental Policy and Management program, teaching courses including OSHA Law, Workplace Safety Management, and Environmental Safety and Health.
Thomas provides expertise in comprehensive industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance including OSHA and EPA program compliance, HAZWOPER program implementation, asbestos, chemical exposure monitoring, waterborne pathogens, wildfire residue sampling assessments, bloodborne pathogens and infection control, COVID-19 consulting, hazardous waste, EHS training programs, and construction safety. He is experienced in the development and implementation of site-specific Health and Safety Programs (HASPs) for large- and small-scale operations, including government and military institutions.
Education
Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver.
