Bio

Tulin Melancon has over 20 years of experience in higher education administration and online teaching. She has over ten years of experience in the banking, and hospitality industries at Hilton Hotels, Arkansas Federal Credit Union and LSUS.

She has developed lifelong education programs for adult learners and has taught courses in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Human Resource Management, Interpersonal Communication skills, Organizational Development and Training & Development.

Education

Tulin earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkey) and her Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Development from Webster University.

Professional Background

Tulin is the Director of Conferences and Institutes of the Continuing Education and Public Service Division at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. She focuses on developing and administering non-credit lifelong learning programs for adult learners on professional and personal development, leisure learning and youth programs. Tulin leads program development, implementation, and execution of non-credit professional development, certificate, credentialing programs, STEAM-focused K12 programs, large-scale conferences, military-focused programs and workforce development initiatives. She is passionate about helping adult learners transition to a new career or change their professions in high-demand occupations to be workforce-ready.

Previously, she was the Director of Online Learning and Faculty Development and Assistant Director of Incumbent Worker Training Grants awarded LSUS by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Motivation for Teaching

Tulin is passionate about teaching and is centered on creating a collaborative and engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving and practical application of financial concepts. Learning should be relevant and applicable to real-world situations. Therefore, she incorporates real-life examples and case studies into her teaching to help students understand how financial concepts apply to organizations and industries.

Helping Students Be Successful

Tulin teaches her students the concepts of the Principles of Financing for Organizations. She encourages students to apply their learning to their personal and professional lives, which allows them to develop practical skills and knowledge that they can use beyond the classroom. Tulin is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions, provide guidance and offer insights from the finance world.
