Environmental Policy and Management student, Jerry Ceja, was named one of the 2017-2018 Barton Institute Social Enterprise Fellows. More than 90 students applied and went through a highly selective process and Jerry was one of the 12 graduate students selected from programs through the University.
The Social Enterprise Fellows will study and apply the principles of social enterprise to improve the lives of vulnerable populations. The Fellows will explore the principles and applications of the social enterprise, and in the winter and spring, they will be paired with community partners to work with existing social enterprises. “The Social Enterprise Fellowship addresses a deep interest among University of Denver students in opportunities to transform the world using their skills and knowledge,” said DU Chancellor Rebecca Chopp.
“I am looking forward to learning the business strategies and legal structures of social enterprises, collaborating with peers from all over the University, and developing solutions to problems that affect vulnerable Colorado residents,” said Jerry. “The selection process for the 12 Fellow cohort was quite competitive with over 90 graduate students applying. I am excited and honored to represent University College in the first year of the Social Enterprise Fellowship program.”
Jerry will be the first University College student recipient of the Barton Institute’s Social Enterprise Fellowship.
Congratulations, Jerry!
