Abeer Khaleq

Bio

Abeer Khaleq has extensive experience spanning over 20 years teaching computer science courses through various academic roles from faculty to department chair. She has a deep knowledge of computer science through research and work experience. Her research spans cloud computing, data analytics, machine learning, and emerging technology with a focus on humanitarian applications.

Through her work as a software developer, she helped in developing in-house custom software for a medical billing application using Java and Object-Oriented programming paradigms. Through her research, she developed a cloud-based data analytics model for disaster management and knowledge discovery from Twitter data. Her research included the design and development of reinforcement learning agents for microservices autoscaling deployed on Google Cloud. She also conducted research work in clinical studies and the area of vibrotactile stimulation through her work as a post-doc fellow.

She is the first author of multiple conferences and journal papers in the field and is active in her research and training as technology evolves. She has experience developing software in many programming languages including Java, C++, Python, Tensor flow, and others.

Abeer strives to share her knowledge and passion for computer science with her students. She is passionate about her field and enjoys giving back to her students and helping them succeed. With her unique approach to bridging the gap between the computer industry and academia, she ensures her students get the right blend of experience and education to help them achieve their goals in an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Education

Abeer earned a Ph.D in Computer Science and Information Systems from the University of Colorado Denver and an M.Sc. in Foundations of Advanced Information Technology from Imperial College, London.
