Bio

Brandy King serves in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a manager of a team overseeing a $28 million government contract. She was selected as a Fellow and part of the 2023 Innovation Synergy (iLab) team at HUD, that practiced human-centered design research methods, culminating in designing prototypes and developing recommendations for HUD leadership to improve the home buying experience for students at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) for the purpose of closing the racial homeownership gap.

Brandy’s experience includes expertise in planning and directing all aspects of an organization’s business development policies, objectives, and initiatives. As an entrepreneur and division director, she has a proven track record of revenue and profit growth through strategic planning and organization development. As an entrepreneur, she has practiced human resource management as a generalist for several firms she created, including a strategic training and performance plan for the organization, where she has developed training courses and facilitated online and classroom programs.

After completing a master’s in Strategic Human Resource Management at the University of Denver, and a doctorate in Management/Executive Leadership at Colorado Technical University, Brandy has pursued her passion for teaching, especially where the focus is on the behavioral aspect of people within the organization and how to get optimum performance through leadership, organizational structure, and culture through adult learning theories and technologies. Brandy’s teaching philosophy is a mix of progressive and radical adult education viewpoints, that emphasizes learning through hands-on projects and experiential learning.
