Stacy Stephens
Bio
Stacy is a Teaching and Learning Specialist at University College, University of Denver (DU) where she supports faculty instruction and the student experience through pedagogical coaching and instructional design. She leads and oversees the onboarding of adjunct faculty to ensure they are prepared to provide an inclusive and effective experience for students. Her previous professional experience includes developing educational programming for the cities of Long Beach and Redondo Beach, California and at Hill and Knowlton Public Affairs.
Stacy’s education includes a graduate certificate in Learning and Development from DU’s University College and a Master of Arts in International Studies from DU’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies where her research interests included governance, electoral politics, and economic development with a regional expertise in East Africa. She was the 2016 Hybl Fellow for Democracy Studies where she conducted original research on electoral integrity in East Africa.
Stacy has professional certifications or badges in coaching, applying the Quality Matters Rubric in instructional design, and as a Leader in Teaching Excellence. She is the co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Curriculum Committee at University College. She has volunteered with elementary school governing boards and non-profits related to girls’ education in East Africa.
Stacy is passionate about working with students and creating a learning community in the classroom. In 2023 she was nominated as a Faculty Career Champion at DU.
Helping Students Be Successful
Layla teaches her students the latest marketing techniques with real-life examples and hands-on exercises. She is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer insights from the nonprofit communications world.
