Bio

Tony Williams is a proven Senior Executive, Environmental Consultant, Former Army and Federal Government Officer and Board Member with over 35 years of experience across technology transfer/IP/startup development, environmental engineering program management, manufacturing, renewable energy, utilities, military, government and international development. His broad areas of expertise include leadership; international development; strategic planning; management consulting; executive management; environmental management; mega-projects; government contracts; continuous improvement; cross-cultural awareness and relations; risk management and team building.

He is currently a Principal Director with the DOD at Army Futures Command and was formerly a State of Colorado Commissioner with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment where the highest profile issue was complying with the Governors Executive Order to reduce vehicle emissions and further supporting the state renewable energy plan to meet and reduce emissions with electric vehicles.

Professional Background

In his executive career, Tony has held leadership positions at Jacobs; Xcel Energy; WorleyParsons; CH2M; University of Denver; U.S. Department of Defense; and Resource Engineering & Management (Founder/CEO/President, 7 years). His major project experience includes redevelopment/reclamation; power/renewable energy; federal government/military engineering; CBRNe demilitarization programs and corporate executive positions with P/L responsibility in operating divisions, program management, capture management, acquisition programs, source selection, and contingency planning. In senior consultancy and executive roles with the U.S. government, he has directed treaty negotiations and program delivery across Russia, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

He has also served as a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Presidential Management Fellow; PM/Military Environmental Engineering Officer; Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Director and Project Engineer assigned to the Exxon-Valdez oil spill disaster response effort in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

Motivation for Teaching

Tony has a passion for clean-tech and environmental remediation programs and seeks to develop the next generation of successful sustainability professionals. His time in the government and with corporations field has led to hard-won lessons in smart and effective environmental management which he hopes to pass on to upcoming climate scientists and renewable energy professionals.

Helping Students Be Successful

Tony teaches his students the latest renewable energy and environmental management techniques with real-life examples and hands-on exercises. He is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer insights from the sustainability world.
