Preparing for Class

There's a certain mix of excitement and nerves that collide before a new class begins. We know the feeling! Be empowered to take on your coursework with confidence by reviewing these steps for success as you prepare for class.

1. Register as a new student

Starting at University College as a new student? Complete and submit the New Student Registration Form (fill it out yourself online or give us a call at 303-871-2291 and we'll fill it out together).

2. Review important dates and deadlines

Know what important dates and deadlines are coming up for current students.

3. Register for courses

Choose a course that fits your interests and your schedule. New courses are typically published one month prior to registration for the next term.

4. Purchase course materials and complete pre-class assignments

Once you've registered for courses, textbooks can be purchased through the DU Bookstore. Also be sure to review any pre-class assignments—with accelerated 10-week classes, we hit the ground running!

5. Attend new student orientation and technology overview

Get to know the lay of the land by completing an online or on campus orientation. From key policies and procedures to DU resources, find out how to succeed as a new student.

6. Attend a writing workshop

Brush up on your writing fundamentals and learn about Turabian style formatting at a writing workshop held quarterly on campus or online.
