Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Denver (OLLI at DU)
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Denver (OLLI at DU) is a membership program designed for adults 50 and over, who wish to pursue lifelong learning in a relaxed non-competitive atmosphere. There are no tests, grades, or academic requirements – only a desire to learn and a curious nature. We offer in-person courses at 4 locations (DU On Campus, Central, West, and South) and a host of online learning opportunities.
Where Curiosity Never Retires
Thanks to the generosity of the Bernard Osher Foundation, OLLI at DU joins a network of 125 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes across the United States that believes that the development and delivery of quality educational programs for 50+ adults is important for sustaining quality of life and healthy minds.

Who are OLLI at DU members?
Our members come from diverse backgrounds and professions and share the desire to stay intellectually active and socially engaged. No one is a stranger for long at OLLI at DU because everyone who joins has the same desire to learn, share expertise in the company of peers, and participate in social events and travel opportunities. We like to say our members “come for the courses and stay for the connections.”
What does OLLI at DU offer?
When are classes held?
Lifelong learning through OLLI meets for three eight-week terms during the year. The fall session begins in mid-September, the winter term begins in mid-January, and the spring term begins at the beginning of April. Most classes meet weekly for two hours either in the morning or afternoon for four, six, or eight week periods. Currently about 40% of our courses are offered in-person at three campuses and the balance are offered online via Zoom.
How are classes facilitated?
Most discussion classes are facilitated by OLLI at DU members who have the professional knowledge of, or a scholarly interest in, a subject. Some lecture classes and most webinars are taught by retired faculty members, community and civic leaders, and independent scholars.
Volunteer
We are interested in hearing from you!
OLLI at DU has a long history of being a volunteer-based organization and we so appreciate all who have served in so many different roles over the years. We hope you might be interested in a new wave of opportunities for OLLI at DU members.
We are a community of approximately 2000 members who enjoy the opportunities for lifelong learning and social interaction. To continue to serve the Denver Metro area as the premier lifelong learning community, we have many ways to be involved as a volunteer using your talents. Our needs range from facilitating a course, being a class assistant, providing technology assistance, serving as a greeter at one of our campuses, helping to organize an event or travel opportunity, or serving on one of our committees.
Giving to OLLI
OLLI at DU continues to thrive through the generosity of The Bernard Osher Foundation, the University of Denver, and most importantly, our generous OLLI members. We are grateful for the strong support of our members! The University of Denver planned giving program offers options such as gifts of stock, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance, bequests, and retirement plan assets.
