Bio

Layla Anulo is a longtime nonprofit marketing leader with 20 years of experience in building awareness and support for vibrant nonprofit organizations. She has a deep understanding of traditional and digital marketing strategies and how to build lasting support for vibrant nonprofits.

Education

Layla earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Springdale University and her Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the University of Denver.

Professional Background

Layla currently serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at The Human Fund, where she oversees robust marketing campaigns from concept to launch. She leads marketing efforts on all fronts, including branding, website, digital advertising, social media, PR, email, search, direct mail, and internal communications. Previously, she served as the company’s Digital Marketing Director and before that as Strategic Marketing Manager at the Green Scene and Community Relations Director at the Continental Divide Foundation.

Layla spearheaded the use of influencer marketing at The Human Fund, working with 14 grassroots leaders in the Denver area. She was the 2021 recipient of the Denver Marketing Association’s Do-Gooder of the Year award, and serves as Vice-Chair on the board of the Denver Nonprofit Coalition.

Motivation for Teaching

Layla has a passion for nonprofit communications and storytelling, and seeks to develop the next generation of successful communications professionals. Her time in the nonprofit marketing field has led to hard-won lessons in smart and effective communication which she hopes to pass to upcoming marketers.

Helping Students Be Successful

Layla teaches her students the latest marketing techniques with real-life examples and hands-on exercises. She is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer insights from the nonprofit communications world.
